8s Set Sail to Holland

16th July 2024

A group of sporty Year 8s set sail to Holland for a week of football and hockey training alongside some cultural and leisure activities. For some this was the first time they had been abroad!

After a long day travelling and a restful night, students started their itinerary on Tuesday taking part in training sessions led by experienced coaches, working on endurance, strategy, and teamwork. During the afternoon they had a guided tour of the Eindhoven Stadium Tour, home to Dutch side PSV; followed by dinner and bowling.

Wednesday saw more hockey and football training followed by the afternoon at SuperFun Amersfoort where students competed at laser quest, curling and bungee football. That evening they had the unique experience of watching the England vs. Netherlands match alongside native Dutch fans who were very tolerant of our enthusiastic young supporters!

There was time to embrace the local culture on Thursday morning with a visit to Amsterdam City Centre where students walked by the picturesque canals, delved into various city shops, and indulged in some quirky souvenirs. The afternoon was a trip to Walibi World theme park where the thrill seekers of the group explored the many rollercoasters.

Overall, the trip was a perfect blend of hard work, cultural immersion, and entertainment, making it an unforgettable experience for all involved.
