This term we joined up with The Brilliant Club to give a group of 12 Year 9 students the chance to work with a PhD tutor from the University of Sussex. They had five tutorial sessions before producing a 2000 word essay on the topic of “Exploring Political Shifts: Dystopian Fiction as Allegory”. The programme gave students the opportunity to stretch and challenge themselves, as well as the chance to experience university style learning.

To celebrate the end of the programme, we visited St Anne’s College at the University of Oxford where students took part in a graduation ceremony. The graduation day allowed students to visit a highly competitive university and to see the potential options they could have in the future.
