Art and Technology Showcase

27th June 2023

On Friday 23 June, in conjunction with our Grand Opening, we held our Annual Summer Exhibition to celebrate our Year 11 Artists and Designers. Our library, Antares, was transformed into an amazing gallery with more work displayed in the Observatory and the Technology classrooms.

Students had their sketchbooks in front of their final pieces so visitors could see how they had researched and developed their ideas, by experimenting with different art materials and techniques.

Engineering students had designed lamps and Product Design students researched a product for a real client and designed and manufactured it. Examples ranged from desk organisers, ergonomic laptop surfaces, and multifunctional storage pieces.

Art student's first project was a still life; students chose from a set of themes, such as food and drink, The Natural World and Hobbies. For their next project students could choose from 15 possible themes such as metamorphosis or reflection; loneliness or opposites or visual themes such as an empty chair or a rusty car.

With so much choice it made for a very eclectic display! What amazing pieces of work, well done Year 11!
