Big Election Debate

9th July 2024

During the run up to the the Big Election, the Debate Society hosted a special Election Debate here in the Main Hall. This was a great opportunity for students to develop their public speaking skills and explore various political ideologies.

Six students took part, each representing one of the UK’s main political parties, however, the audience had no idea which Speaker represented which Party until AFTER the votes were counted!

After the ballots were posted and the votes counted, Carrington elected Max Orchard as “Count Binface” who was running for the Determination Party.

Well done to George Richings (10), Riley Harries (10), Ruby Ash (9), Rosalind Guzman (9) and Meg Farley (9) who each held their own during the debate, and Betsy Jones (7) who did an excellent job asking questions as Chairperson.
