Expedition Excitement
Over the weekend our Year 9 DofE Students completed the Expedition Criteria for their Bronze Award in the Surrey Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, around Gomshall. The group have worked hard in recent months to plan and prepare for the weekend, and they have developed the skills and were mentally prepared to undertake this challenge.
The weekend was spent walking a route of approximately 30km, camping at Walliswood Village Hall, south of Ewhurst. Students had to complete their routes accurately and safely within their calculated time scale, whilst working towards a “purpose” that they will now put together as a presentation on completion.
At the same time, our Year 10 Silver DofE students took part in a practice walk. The group left school at midday on Thursday 6 July and spent two nights at the Walliswood Village Hall campsite. Students planned a walk to last three days finishing on Saturday 8 July at Gomshall Station.
We are really proud of you all!
