Focus On: Phoenix Project
22nd November 2023
This term we are shining the spotlight on our Year 8 Phoenix Project. The Phoenix Project works with a selected group of sixteen Year 8 students every year, with the aim to raise aspirations across the core subjects of English, Maths and Science.
Following the launch of this year's Phoenix Project in September with a bonding/team building trip to Dorset (which you can read all about HERE) the group have been very busy!
Students visited Earlswood Junior School where they led Reading Workshops for Year 3 students. They also used what they had learnt in Dorset and ran Team Building activities with the children.
At the University of Kent, Phoenix Project students had the opportunity to tour the campus, have lunch with university students and also take part in a scavenger hunt around the campus.
To round of this first term, we took a trip to London to see the Lion King, stopping off to visit the King on the way!
Students have really enjoyed the activities they've taken part in this term, just one of the amazing comments to hear was 'I loved going to Dorset and doing all the kayaking. I've made new friends that I wouldn't have made before'.
