Inspiration at Watts Gallery!
21st January 2025
Last week, our Year 11 GCSE Art students embarked on an exciting trip to Watts Gallery in Guildford, where they immersed themselves in a day filled with creativity, inspiration, and hands-on experience. The visit was not just a break from the classroom but an invaluable opportunity to gather essential resources for their coursework.
The gallery’s collection provided plenty of creative fuel, with students sketching details from the paintings and sculptures to develop their own ideas. One of the highlights of the day was the clay workshop, where students donned aprons and got their hands messy sculpting their own pieces. This hands-on session allowed them to experiment with texture, form, and technique, all of which will feed into their GCSE coursework.
Overall, the trip was a huge success, leaving everyone inspired and ready to take their coursework to the next level. A big thank you to the staff at Watts Gallery for such a fantastic experience! We can’t wait to see how this trip influences the amazing artwork our Year 11s create.
