Getting Outdoorsy!

15th May 2024

As the weather has slowly started to improve, many of our students have been preparing for their upcoming expeditions.

Our Year 9 DofE students have been completing the Expedition criteria for their Bronze Award in the Surrey Hills, around Gomshall and our Year 10 and 11 students have completed their Silver Award. Students had to complete their routes accurately and safely within their calculated time scale, whilst working towards a “purpose” that they will now put together as a presentation on completion. For some students the expedition was a real challenge but all-round teamwork prevailed! And for our Year 9s this weekend, the sight of the Northern Lights made all the hard work worth it!

11s who are heading off to eSwatini in July also took to the countryside for a training session earlier this term. Students and staff walked for 14km on the South Downs, carrying their full packs! On their three-week trip, students will complete two treks, a safari and spend five days on a community project.
