Yesterday our 8s Phoenix Project group had a day out at Gatwick Airport for a behind-the-scenes visit. They had a tour around the site and talks from members of the team that work within the engineering departments.

Students were challenged to complete the following activities:

Building Electric Vehicles, with battery packs and all sorts. They were in teams and had to create the fastest vehicles, which they raced against each other...

Problem-solving Water activities, learning about how water is redistributed around the site...

Learning how to change a runway light!

Competing against each other as to who could make the tallest cup-tower...

Visiting air-side (passports were needed for this!) and touring the runway, watching one of the new Emirate planes take off!
