Inspiring Words from Still Shadey
25th March 2025
9s and 10s were visited by Croydon’s leading mentoring service, “MENT-4” last week, who delivered assemblies on the dangers of gang culture and exploitation. The sessions were facilitated by MOBO Award-winning musician, Still Shadey, aka Luke Peters.
Still Shadey is an inspirational speaker and Senior Director at MENT4, who has first-hand experience of the dangers surrounding gangs, knife crime, and county lines. At 16, he was exploited into the world of drug trafficking, but through resilience and professional intervention, he overcame these challenges and has since made it his life’s mission to educate and guide young people away from risky and harmful paths.
Through his powerful storytelling and personal experiences, Shadey shared an honest and relatable message about the challenges young people face and the importance of making positive life choices. A passionate advocate for young people, Still Shadey connected with students on a deep level, offering practical advice on building resilience, seeking support from trusted adults, and staying true to their own values.
A huge thank you to Still Shadey for taking the time to share his wisdom and experiences. His message of hope, resilience, and self-belief will no doubt stick with students for years to come!
