The Phoenix Project Adventures Begin

15th September 2023

The Phoenix Project works with a selected group of sixteen Year 8 students every year, with the aim to raise aspirations across the core subjects of English, Maths and Science.

They began their project on a trip to Dorset, where they camped for three nights and took part in a range of activities that require them to work as a team and build relationships with one another. They have begun to build a portfolio about their experiences and what they feel they learn about themselves through this.

During the rest of the year their Phoenix Experiences will include a visit to the University of Kent, Gatwick Airport and local businesses in Redhill in order to expand their horizons. They'll also have one-to-one mentoring support and regular opportunities to reflect on how they feel about moving through Year 8, whilst continually looking ahead at Year 9 and their options.
